CLASS V - ENGLISH - 1st Poem - ICE-CREAM MAN 

Gist of the Poem :-

This is a beautiful poem written by Rachel Field.

This poem describes the scenery of Summer season. In the summer , when the environment becomes very hot and it’s very critical to go outside of our home; at that time the ice-cream man brings a joyful moment for the children. He comes with his little cart , full of cold drinks and ice-creams of different flavours. Children gather around him like honeybees gather around the honeycomb. His cart is compared to a flower bed. As a flower bed is consisting of flowers of different colours, like that the cart is consisting of cold drinks and ice- cream flavours of different colours.

              Shine brightly (Verb)

 In summer days, the bricks outside of our home become blazes of heat. (Noun)

Dry wood make a good Blaze. (Noun)

Cart = a vehicle with two or four wheels that is used to transport things (Noun)

            The man is coming with a cart to our colony to collect garbage. (Noun)

Trundling = move slowly on wheels (Verb)

                      Moving on small broad wheels(verb)

                    The Ice-cream man comes trundling down the street in summer days. (verb)

Beneath = under/below (Preposition)

            The cat is sitting beneath the table.

             I kept a letter beneath a pile of papers.

Mound = heap, pile (Noun)

             There is a mound of coins on the table.

Chilly= very cold (Adjective)

          We drink chilly things in the summer.

Frosty-fizz= chilled drink, cold drink (Noun)

                   Making a hissing, bubbling sound (Verb)

                   We drink frosty-fizz in summer.

Cluster= a group of similar things (Noun)

                Gather around (verb)

               cluster of students stood around the table. (Noun)

              cluster of honeybees are buzzing around the flower. (Noun)

              We clustered around the teacher to show him homework. (Verb)

      All these are being practiced during classroom transaction. After that I post here so that the students who couldn't access the class, can access here. And the students who don't belong to our school also can access and can be benefitted. Basically all students can access it and keep learning.
